Family:
It’s my joy and gift from God to be “Mommy” to my only son, KC, born 2002. I am also one of three sisters. My parents still live on Maui. I come from a pretty big Hawai’i and Mainland family tree.
How did you first start coming to HCKB?
I first came in early 2006. I had been listening to (basically non-stop) a ton of sermons on 720 AM. I visited the O’ahu churches that I heard on the radio. After just one Sunday service here at Hope Chapel Kane’ohe Bay, our search was over; we had found our Home Church.
What is one thing that you love about HCKB?
I love a ton of things about Hope Chapel Kane’ohe Bay, so having to choose just one is hard. I guess what I immediately think of is the JOY to worship, praise and love Jesus that everyone has here.
What do you love most about working for HCKB?
Again, it’s difficult to just mention one thing when there are so many aspects about my job that I love. I love that everything we do comes down to a simple question of, “Does this honor God and equip others to do the same?” It makes all the everyday-tasks have purpose and meaning.
Who is the most influential person in your life?
Oooooo…, that’s tricky. My mother and sisters prayed steadily for my salvation and are great resources and sounding boards. But as far as being “the MOST influential person in my life” goes…, it will always be Jesus, my Lord and Savior, my best friend.
What inspires you?
I love nature and view it as the Bible teaches, …as proof of God’s might, intelligence, and awesome attention to intricate details; a God of order, beauty and immense power. I love to look at nature and soak in God. Nature refreshes me and inspires me to live in God’s righteous path.
Life Long Goal:
It has shifted over the years, but right now I feel that my “Life Long Goal” is to be in constant prayer with Jesus and to teach my son to do so as well.
Any Hidden Talents?
Well, I’m not so sure about hidden, but I used to run a business as a gallery artist for several years here on O’ahu (liquidated in 2002 when I moved to the Mainland) and love to create drawings and paintings. I still do artwork part-time because of that love
Little Known Fact About Me:
I grew up in a remote valley on the west side of Maui called Honokohau (closest town SW is Lahaina & SE is Kahakuloa). The valley was so remote that I grew up without a phone, TV or even electricity. I spent almost every free day at the beach, exploring the valley and/or reading a ton of books as entertainment. To this day, I consume mass amounts of books.
Favorites:
Book (other than the Bible):
I don’t even have a top 10 list; there are just too many good books in each genre to choose from.
Movie:
Same as books.
Restaurant:
I’m always changing my favorite spot, but for today, Fat Boys (Local Kine Grinds) for their garlic chicken.
Food:
Real Squid Lu’au, fresh Kalolo, my grandma’s Mulberry Jam on Saloon Pilot Crackers, Pizza, Shrimp Scampi, Kalbi Ribs from Azeka’s, fresh-picked Lilikoi, Mangoes, Blueberries & Cherries, fresh Dungeness Crab with butter, fresh Kalo fried with Hawaiian Salt, etc
Ice Cream:
Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie Ice Cream
Drink @ Starbucks:
Pumpkin Spice Latte
Song:
Soooo many to choose from, can’t decide. Right now I like anything from Third Day, or anything my sister, Malia, sings.
Childhood Memory:
Playing Secret Spy (a version of Hide ‘n Seek & Chase Master) all around our country pole house, late at night (in the pitch dark; no electric lights of any kind) with my 2 sisters when we were about 6 thru 10 years old. Toads would jump on our feet or we would accidently step on them (Sooooooo Gross!) as we scurried around “spying” and “capturing” each other. We scared each other crazy and laughed all night long.
