Our Purpose

SURGE exists to grow ordinary junior high students into faithful, followers of Jesus Christ that impact the world in mighty ways by empowering them through Bible teaching, fellowship, communion, prayer, and praising God.

Weekly Services

teaching

A SURGE service is church designed FOR YOUTH! If words like "boring, watered-down, lame, or for-kids-only," come to mind, ditch them IMMEDIATELY, because that's definitely NOT what we supply.  Services are held three times a weekend (coinciding with an adult service), involving a fun ice-breaker game, powerful worship, an enriching Bible teaching, prayer, and fellowship.

Praise and Worship

service 4Worship changes lives, and is spiritual warfare at its finest.  We believe it should look, feel, and sound as if God is sitting right in front of us (because He IS).  It is about SHAMELESSLY rolling out the red carpet for the King of kings, and lifting not only our hands and voices, but our hearts by ditching self-image of what we look like when we worship at the door!  BREAK FREE, GET UP AND DANCE!  Psalm 149:3 all the way!

worship

We're proud to say that our worship bands are "home-grown," made up of High School "STOKED" members, giving back to the ministry they graduated from.  This is one of the ways we exercise discipleship in a hands-on way.

minichurch

A SURGE minichurch is where students meet in a small group during the week for worship, fellowship, to discuss that week's sermon, or to engage in Bible study. There are various minichurches in both Kane'ohe and Kailua.

Camp Photo

Camps

camp web 2010

We host camps twice a year: in the winter, combined with HCKB's High School Ministry "STOKED," and in the summer, exclusive to Jr. Highers.  Camps have been called "life changing."  We believe they should be God-inspired and God-fueled experiences.  These are the most important events we have, and we highly encourage all of our youth to make it out to at least one camp during their stay in our ministry.

Missions

japan1Japan 2

Hope for Japan Sig

We take Youth mission teams to Japan yearly to help them understand the calling that Jesus has for us in Matthew 28: "to make disciples of all nations." This experience not only broadens horizons, but challenges them to get out of their comfort zone, and share the love of God with complete strangers, and eventually transform "stranger" into friend.

Events

We make sure to have at least one awesome event a month to invite friends to, ranging from mini-concerts, overnighters, pool parties, beach barbeques, ice skating, bowling, potlucks, dance parties, worship nights and more.
